1. TCM Database Browser (Browse)
The Browse module allows you to explore the entire terminology database categorized by TCM hierarchy.
Categorized Views
The database is split into three independent tables for clarity:
- Diseases (病): Broad disease categories (e.g., External Contraction, Internal Injury).
- Syndromes (证): Specific diagnostic patterns (e.g., Wind-Heat, Qi Deficiency).
- Therapies (治法): Treatment principles and methods.
2. Term Retrieval (Search)
The Search module uses advanced vector semantics to find TCM terms.
Key Features:
- Bilingual Support: Search using either English (e.g., "Abdominal pain") or Chinese (e.g., "腹痛").
- Deep Search: Searches across Name, Alias, AND Chinese Description.
- Three-Tier Results:
- Exact Match: Perfect matches for names.
- Semantic Similarity: Terms with similar meanings (Top 20).
- Substring Match: Terms containing your input text (Top 10).
Usage Tips:
You don't need to use precise medical terminology. Descriptive phrases like "stomach hurt after eating cold food" will successfully retrieve terms like "syndrome/pattern of stomach cold" by analyzing the description content.
3. Clinical Narrative Generator (Extract)
The Extract module transforms chaotic, colloquial patient's chief complaints into structured, professional clinical descriptions.
How to handle "Noise":
The Extract module automatically splits long narratives into sentences and analyzes each segment individually. This allows it to ignore emotional rants, family stories, or irrelevant details and focus strictly on medical symptoms.
"My husband went out walking and didn't tell me, I'm so angry, he didn't answer the phone... but now I feel my heart racing and panicked, doctor, my life is so bitter."
Patient presents with clinical presentation suggests syndrome/pattern of sudden rage damaging the liver (暴怒伤肝证), syndrome/pattern of grief and anxiety damaging qi (悲忧伤气证), potential diagnosis includes upset with timidity (卑惵), sudden heart pain (卒心痛).
(Note: Irrelevant details about the husband and phone calls are filtered out.)
Best Practices for Input:
- Feel free to paste the entire conversation log or a long paragraph.
- Mixing languages is acceptable; the system detects keywords in both.
- The system extracts Symptoms, Syndromes, and potential Diseases.
- Note: This module provides a structured summary for reference only and does not offer treatment prescriptions.
4. System Information
Data Source: National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicne
AI Model (sentence-transformers): bge-large-zh-v1.5 and all-MiniLM-L6-v2 for semantic understanding.
